An unusual complication of exercise echocardiography.

چکیده
acute heart failure. Percutaneous treatment with dilation of the coartation and stenting was decided upon, with good results. In our area, more than 90%–95% of heart failure cases are due to ischemic heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmias and valvular disease, but on occasion, as with this patient, the unexpected may happen. In this case, and contrary to all statistics and initial data, the sound of hoofbeats were those of a zebra and not of a horse.

Temporo-mandibular joint dislocation: an unusual complication of transoesophageal echocardiography.
Temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ) dislocation is an unusual complication of transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE). We report a rare case of bilateral TMJ dislocation in an 84-year-old man prior to DC cardioversion (DCCV) for atrial flutter. Shortly after TEE and DCCV, the patient complained of bilateral facial pain. An orthopantomogram revealed bilateral TMJ dislocation. A closed reduction was p...

A 68 year old man was referred to the cardiology outpatient department for investigation of deteriorating angina control. Three years earlier he had sustained an inferoposterior myocardial infarction complicated only by a transient episode of hypotension and bradycardia. Clinical examination was unremarkable apart from the finding of a soft systolic murmur at the apex and axilla. Investigations...
متن کاملAC TINOMYCOSIS: AN UNUSUAL COMPLICATION OF ORAL SURGERY-A CASE REPORT
Actinomycosis, a rather uncommon infection of the oral cavity, poses and unusual problem: recurrence. Primary or initial diagnosis of the disease is difficult and can be made easier only if the clinician bears in mind a few important facts: a previously compromised site is usually present, a slow, low-grade, almost painless infectious course is prevalent which tends to localize, and respond...
متن کاملAn Unusual Case of Embolic Stroke: A Permanent Ventricular Pacemaker Lead Entirely Within the Arterial System Documented by Transthoracic and Transesophageal Echocardiography.
A pacemaker lead in the left ventricle is a rare complication of implantation. Recognition of this complication is important because thromboembolic events are associated. We report the first case, to our knowledge, of a patient who had a permanent pacemaker implanted via the left subclavian artery to the left ventricle, which is documented by electrocardiography, chest radiography, thoracic ech...
متن کاملIntracardiac fistula: an unusual complication of catheter-related blood stream infection
In end stage renal disease patients on dialysis, the use of catheter as a vascular access is associated with a significant risk of sepsis compared to an arterio-venous fistula. Our case emphasizes the importance of having high index of suspicion for unusual complications in patients presenting with possible catheter-related blood stream infection and early use of complementary tools such as tra...
